Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She received an undergraduate degree in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell was hired as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). The following year, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992. and Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell was a panelist on the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell joined the panel of the 1988 presidential debates in which George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. In 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. The time span covered the two Ronald Reagan terms in office. Mitchell reported on many noteworthy reports, including arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
